Beth's First Paintings 20 December 2008

I PAINTED THEM!  I got some DVD’s that teach you how to paint and those were my first two attempts. The series is called One Stroke and there are several different instructional DVD’s which teach you what tools to buy, and stroke techniques, then walk you through a couple of pictures (like these) start to finish and you follow along and paint. Once you have the basic techniques down, you can paint your own original stuff. It’s a lot of fun, although I can’t find the time to spend a lot of time at it. Another reason I want to retire!

Introducing Dixie!  23 December 2008

NO, she’s not mine…. She is the newest member of my friends, Julie & John’s family. With their other dog KC.

Ain’t she sweet! She just fell asleep in my arms.   Little Dixie was just 5 weeks old.

NEW!

(05 April 2009)

We all went to the Magic Castle last night. It is a private “magic” club in Hollywood. A guy Trent works with is a member and he got us passes. It was pretty cool. We ate then we got to walk around the place and go into the different “rooms” and watch magic shows. It’s mostly slight-of-hand stuff, not big acts, but cool. Some of those guys were really good! We arrived around 5:30 for drinks, dinner was at 6, Then we explored the place till around 11:30! That’s late for me! J  And they have a strict dress code; it was fun to get dressed up! None of these guys have been in a tie in forever! Aren’t we just a motley crew!

The plaque is at the entrance to Disneyland, you were able to purchase a stone that they engrave and then they pave the place with all of them, Jenny got one too.

That’s Jackie with the quilt that I made for her.

Good Times.  Best Friends!

Me and Sue, my friend from Duluth. Her daughter April is in the Army and she was stationed up near San Francisco a few years ago. Sue came out to visit her and I flew up to be with them. That was taken in a restaurant we went to.

Christmas 2008

I was very blessed this year, received some really nice gifts. But I just had to share with you all my favorite gift….. Trent has a very old friend, who is an artist, and he sent her a pic of the boys and she painted a picture of them for me. Is this totally awesome or what????

This is the picture of Buddy and Jake she had to work from:

If I Didn't Have a Dog

From Beth 06 April, 2009

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety. My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated. All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair. When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading
through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without
taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.

I would have money ...and no guilt to go on a real vacation.

I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.

My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates
or barriers.

My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, B-I-K-E, G-O, R-I-D-E

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading "mud" season.

I would not have to answer the question "Why do you have so many animals?" from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.
How EMPTY my life would be!

Beth sent this update 28 august 2009:

This pic is my new Adam Lambert pendant, an imprint of the Eye of Horus (symbol of protection). He had this tattooed on his wrist when he made the top 36 on Idol. Now he’s donated his original sketch to Pennyroyal Sliver, who made these pendants, who’s proceeds are going to the charity Musiccares. It also has Adams signature stamped on the back.

If you notice, I am wearing my Planet Garth t-shirt! So I have combined two of my three great obsessions…  My Man Garth and My Wild Child Adam. (Now, if I could just get my cold, hard, sparkly, Volvo driving Vampire, Edward Cullen, from Twilight in there somehow…  it would be perfect!)

Beth sent these pictures March 27, 2010:

Universal Studios, and Big Bear Lake, and Santa Monica Pier.

Jackie is 17 years old… and seriously going on 30! She is so mature for her age. She is in high school and also takes college courses (she is going to go into child development). She works at a day care 5 days a week after school and at Cici’s Pizza on weekends… so she is a busy girl, 7 days a week. She makes her own car payments, her own insurance payments and buys her own gas. How many 17 year olds are that responsible? I am so proud of her. She is truly a beautiful girl, inside and out. Jackie lives in Colorado Springs. She was so glad to have the warm weather of CA for a few days!
